Our client, a leading global Investment Bank, is seeking a Lead GUI Developer / Manager for their front-office Equities Trading team.

Position Description

The Equity Sales Trading Front Office GUI (Graphical User Interfaces) team develops real-time Sales trading and order management systems to access listed equities and equities derivatives products across Asia. Our clients are front-office sales traders and business managers from the Equities business, including single shares, program trading, futures, convertibles and synthetic product group.

As well as work on the existing platform we are building our next generation Sales Trading system and require a lead developer to spearhead this initiative. This will be a unique and immensely exciting opportunity to lead the analysis and development effort for this challenging project. The role will focus on developing GUI applications on the Windows platform in C# and MFC/C++ with some work in Java on Unix/Linux back-end. It will also involve enhancing existing C++/COM based systems, with future new modules using the C# .NET framework.

Responsibilities

The role includes interfacing directly with the Sales trading business team in order to both manage and develop technology solutions.

• Responsible for leading the building of our generation Sales Trading system.
• Responsible for leading the development, maintenance and support of Sales trading applications used by multiple sales trading desks across Asia.
• Participate in the full project life cycle – analysis, design, development, release, maintenance and user support.
• Strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills to interact with business clients, as well as leverage the local and global technology team to delivery solutions.

Development Prospects

This is a great opportunity to take a senior role in a top tier investment bank and help shape the Sales Trading technology in Hong Kong and also contribute to the global application suite. The role involves working closely with Sales Traders and research analysts presenting opportunity to learn a great deal about the sales trading business and become familiar with a wide variety of products traded by the desk.

Experience Required

Technical Skills:

• At least 8 years of programming experience
• Strong technical candidate with skills in MS MFC, C++/COM, front-end GUI with Java, UNIX/Linux application server development.
• C# Winforms GUI development experience
• Experience on C# / .NET would be a big plus
• Experience writing n-tier apps requiring high volume and low latency
• Experience writing code in a multi-threaded environment
• Remote object development experience a plus (Rendezvous, Corba, Ice, others)
• Oriented design and development experience a plus
• Relational database experience preferably Sybase a plus

Relevant Skills:

• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Strong record of academic achievements
• Strong Front Office equities or relevant industry experience
• Ability to team lead and assign and track tasks effectively
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
• Motivated to deliver technology solutions in a dynamic business environment
• Responsive with an attention to details
• Strong sense of ownership and driven to manage tasks to completion
• Capable of operating as a developer, project lead or business analyst
• Mandarin proficiency is desirable but not essential
